Heather Oelschlager

Drawing, painting, writing, sewing, embroidery, beading, crocheting, baking, making collages…if it’s creative in any way I’d likely try it if I haven’t already. As with anything else in life this creative outlet is a journey that allows me to keep exploring and experimenting.

For me, drawing and painting is a continuously evolving process. The Gemini in me thrives on having a range of options and mediums to work with. Some days the mood is ink or watercolor and others it is acrylic. I am inspired by places we visit and go hiking and by my photography, but often I get an impression of a drawing or painting in my mind and it sticks until I get it put on paper or canvas. This is especially true of the abstract realism portraits and drawing designs, so I just go with it and hope I can make the mental imagery come to fruition.

Also, I love making one-of-a-kind artisan items and my own freehand embroidery designs, because as unique as every person is, you should be able to have your own original art piece to reflect that! Years ago sewing, embroidery and jewelry were my primary creative focus. Due to lasting effects of an injury, it’s made it impossible to prioritize those things, so I made a shift to those artistic pursuits that I am capable of spending more time on. I still do have hundreds of artisan pieces available and do create new works when possible. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for in the shop, be sure to drop me an email or schedule a studio gallery visit here in Hastings. There might be something available that is not yet added to the online shop.

BOOKS & my day job

I’m proud to announce my new series, Heather’s Sketchbooks, a coloring book series for adults and teens. These are now available for purchase in the shop as well as on Amazon worldwide. The other books I’ve written (and those currently in the works) mainly pertain to my work as a medium. I’m happy to have you visit MandorlaAcademy.com to check that out, too. Online courses are always open to the public worldwide. These cover topics such as meditation, self-awareness, healing grief, and more. It has been my professional career offering consultations, workshops, and speaking engagements for over 20 years. During that time, I’ve met some of the most amazing people. And now, through my art and photography, I have a whole new avenue for connecting with others.
